Noxhil has given me a deadly task. I am to seek out the Fire Guard, a great gate found to the furthest north of the Nektulos. He wants to know if the "they" he mentions have opened this gate. I should be on my guard while venturing there.

I need to closely see if the Fire Guard gate has been opened by "them".
I need to check the gate for signs of it being ajar. (in Nektulos Forest)
I need to let Noxhil know that whatever is guarded behind the gate has not been released.
